The Christian Perspective on the Old Testament

Unfortunately, too many Christians have allowed themselves to harbor extreme views with regard to the role which they permit the Old Testame...

Franklin Graham gives God the credit for Trump's victory!

Just for the record, Armstrongites aren't the only ones who buy into this flawed theology about God's intervention in choosing our leaders. The following quote was extracted from Reverend Franklin Graham's Facebook page:

"Did God show up? In watching the news after the election, the secular media keep asking 'How did this happen?' 'What went wrong?' 'How did we miss this?' Some are in shock. Political pundits are stunned. Many thought the Trump/Pence ticket didn’t have a chance. None of them understand the God-factor.
Hundreds of thousands of Christians from across the United States have been praying. This year they came out to every state capitol to pray for this election and for the future of America. Prayer groups were started. Families prayed. Churches prayed. Then Christians went to the polls, and God showed up.
While the media scratches their heads and tries to understand how this happened, I believe that God’s hand intervened Tuesday night to stop the godless, atheistic progressive agenda from taking control of our country."

That explains it all - Graham has answered the secular media's questions about how Donald Trump was elected President. I guess we should all be thankful that God saved us from Hillary's "godless, atheistic progressive agenda." Still, some of us can't help but wish that "He" had saved us from Trump's godly, theistic retrograde agenda!

  1. In their minds, Pence is their president. Somebody in the Republican Party was certainly a brilliant strategist in coming up with that one!

I don't know what is in Donald Trump's heart, but he does not seem to measure up to anyone's vision of Christian standards. Ethical New Yorker? Maybe. I think we may have an ideal situation, in that he'll be vetoing much of the evangelical zealotry coming from the religious right constituency of his party, and they will act as an unofficial system of checks and balances on him. It may end up being much a more tolerable arrangement than the protestors on the street realize. One can only hope!
Ted Cruz would have been an unmitigated disaster.

    1. Yes, brilliant marketing! I hope that his heart is better than what emerges from his lips, and I pray that his governing skills will exceed his rhetorical ones. I agree that Cruz would have been awful too.

    2. What's so wrong with Ted Cruz? A couple of states liked him better than Trump.

    3. So I'm not trying to be confrontational, just want to learn more about Cruz as I voted for him against Trump in Primaries (thought he was a good Christian, conservative, family man, all that good stuff...(even though I don't believe in the bible, I like Christian leaders & citizens, as it is good for controlling society)

    4. Why do we need to control society? And I was under the impression that you would prefer a moral atheist to a self-righteous, evangelical Christian - was I wrong?
As for Mr. Cruz, he is a true believer - a dangerous ideologue. He is a classic example of the kind of black and white thinking I've talked about in times past. He rejects the science behind man-made climate change, gay marriage and compromise in general. I think it is significant that most of his colleagues in the Senate despise him. His statements suggest that he hates the federal government and does not see our Constitution as a living/evolving document that is subject to modern interpretations (His statements suggest that he has a similar perspective on the Bible and religion).
